Jones Breaks
Own Record at Alcatraz
Sets Course Record in Eighth Win
Olympic Medalist and Holofiber® spokesperson Michellie
Jones roared across the finish line at San Francisco’s
Escape From Alcatraz triathlon on Sunday, June 6, 2004 –
the eighth time Michellie has won this major competition.
This time, Michellie set the course record, finishing the
race in just 2:08:54 and beating her 2002 course record of
2:14:23.
A foot injury prevented Michellie from participating in
the Alcatraz race in 2003, but she returned to the icy Bay
of San Francisco and the demanding course this year, commenting
that the race gets harder and harder to win every year as
it just gets more and more competitive.
“As an athlete you are always trying to find ways to
improve your performance,” says Michellie. “Every
single athlete trains extremely hard, and to get that extra
edge you have to have a secret weapon. My secret weapon is
Holofiber.
Since being introduced to Holofiber I have, by just wearing
it, improved my recovery between sessions, which has helped
me have better quality workouts. Recently I had a grade one
tear to my left calf, which the doctors said would put me
out of training for at least 3-4 weeks. The guys at Holofiber
came to my rescue and made
me a sock-type garment. After wearing it for just two weeks
I was back training hard.”
