2004 – THE YEAR HOLOFIBER REACHED THE
TIPPING POINT
In his landmark bestseller, The Tipping Point, Malcolm Gladwell
documents the similarities experienced by companies and trends that
reach mainstream success. Rather than a single overwhelming event,
says Gladwell, real success in any timeframe is achieved through
small, steady achievements.
Holofiber could well be his next case study.
We’ve made gains since our first OR Show in 2002. The Holofiber
concept generated a good deal of buzz in the outdoor, sporting goods
and medical industries, but only a few visionary companies were
making products with the fiber. Since 2003, however, Holofiber has
been on a roll, forming new partnerships, sponsoring athletes and
approaching its own tipping point.
A year ago today, Holofiber was being used by: Calloway Golf Footwear,
Deer Creek Fabrics, Draper, EquiPedic Superfeet, Tempo Shain , United
Knitting and Wickers.
In the past year, the following companies have joined those eight
in committing to the production of Holofiber products:
- AccuMed Technologies
- Aetna Felt
- Arriva
- Bali Leathers
- Eastern Mountain Sports
- EquiPedic
- EquiPile
- Galey & Lord
- L.B. Evans
- Pro-Formance
- RX-Textiles
- Sierra Designs Canada
- Treadmills USA
- Tropical Rider
- Victorinox
- Woolrich
- Xterra Gear
In addition, ’04 saw the debut of Team Holofiber, one of
the most accomplished and successful teams in adventure racing.
Michellie Jones, triathlete legend, Ironman winner and Olympic medalist,
continues to be an enthusiastic endorser. We were an official sponsor
of the Toronto Marathon. And, as the medical and diabetic market
continues to boom for Holofiber, the competitive equine industry
has taken notice and looms as another market with huge potential.
As for 2005, look out. As the “show me” companies see
the success of early adopters like Superfeet, who have dramatically
increased their use of Holofiber, they’re shedding their caution
and getting in the game. And the tipping continues.
